It’s spectacularly beautiful. Notice of course, how intellectually you have no clue at all what the subject matter of this symphony is. It has no words or pictures to point you in the direction of what the subject matter may be. But emotionally it feels tremendously, unmistakably meaningful. We have an emotional ability that grasps and apprehends things that are invisible to our intellectual ability alone. It is to this emotional ability that a work of art speaks.
